The week of rock
As of this coming Thursday my ears are going to be ringing none stop. Yes, AGMF has arrived again and will mark the first year that I actually have to pay for a ticket!
“But wait”, I hear you say, “AGMF starts on Friday!” Yes, you’re right - but Master Meares, myself and a number of other distinguished gentlemen will be getting our pre-festival fill to the sounds of New Found Glory right here in Bris-vegas on the eve of our Blindside experience!
Also coming to AGMF this year is probably my favourite aussie band, Antiskeptic. I very ashamedly missed these guys when they opened for Dashboard Confessional in September last year, so I will relish being able to see them on Saturday night.
If I only see Blindside and Antiskeptic this year, it will surely be a successful week of rock. But, as they say, the fun doesn’t stop there. My good friends ITLOA will be kickin it on Saturday night, along with Rookie and Superchick who I’ve been told (time and time again) put on a great live show. Others worthy of mention are Day of Fire, who will end my 2007 AGMF, Nikki Kummerow and Planet of the Stereos (previously known as The View).
To top off all this great music, I will be seeing the one, the only; John Mayer on Tuesday the 10th. In my opinion, there really could be no other way to finish up such a jam-packed week than to see one of the true guitar legends in the flesh at the Convention Centre.
To me, AGMF has always been half about the music and half about catching up with every single person you’ve ever met in your life, in one weekend! Last year, having been out of Toowoomba for a few months, I did feel a little disconnected from everyone and I have a suspicion that this year will be even more alienating, so I’ve cooked up a bit of a schedule to keep myself occupied, just in case.
