My goals as a web-developer
You know when you meet someone for the first time and they always ask that stock-standard question “So, what do you do with yourself?“. My usual response to that question is “I’m a web-developer“. But, it’s the next statement that I love the most: “Oh, REALLY???, My son/daughter/nephew/niece/friend is into computers!” - which is also around the time that people stop asking me questions, ’cause they have no idea what to ask next.
Because of this, I always get really excited when I meet someone who is also in the IT industry; it gives me the opportunity to actually talk about what I do. There’s so many facets to web-development and IT in general; And everyone’s working to achieve slightly different things.
So, what am I working towards? Well, I read a great article by one of the crazier (old) guys on the net by the name of Vincent Flanders. Vincent runs this slightly satirical, but read-worthy website called “Web pages that suck“, it’s an interesting site, which comes back to grab my attention every so often. This time it was an article titled “Biggest Mistakes in Web Design 1995-2015” and lists a lot of points that I’m working towards being good at in my profession.
What are your goals?
