SU so soon

28th Jul 2008

So as you may or may not have heard, I have accepted a position at Scripture Union Queensland starting on the 11th of August. S.U. approached me about two weeks ago with the prospect of coming on board full-time to plan out and execute a strategy for ramping up their online activity.

Last week I had the unfortunate task of breaking the news to SM2 that my last day will be on Friday the 8th of August. They have been very understanding, despite the short timeframe before I leave.

S.U. have already ordered my gear which will hopefully arrive in time for me to hit the ground running and they’re even recarpeting for my arrival (jk).

In the meantime, I’m going to get back to playing with my new iPhone… :P

Interesting insight from Linus

Linus Torvalds on how support-engineer’s status has been “lowered from mystic guru to humble technician” with the proliforation of Linux:

The least that enterprise market wants is surprises: it wants steady, plodding, more-of-the-same, long-term plans. In other words, it wants familiarity and trust, and it wants the same familiarity and trust down the line. Not surprises. So the last thing that market wants is a “mystic guru”.
