Quick updates

12th Feb 2007

Mmmm… I love new stuff - especially tech stuff. AND, as you may already know, it oft’ leads me to make posts such as this.

I just tried to SSH to this server about 20 mins ago and noticed that it gave me an RSA-key spoof warning, which basically means that I’m not connecting to the IP address I was last time. So, as part of my usual list of “debug” items I went and checked the Steel Pixel blog which had this post.

WOW, talk about server specs; This site is now running on a:

"Dual Xeon 2.8ghz with Dual cores, and 4gb of ram all running on the 64bit CentOS."

How ya like ‘dem apples??? So, to top it all off, I then saw a post about the latest version of wordpress and decided to install it, WHICH has some very impressive features… My favourite of course is the new Code-view tab when writing/editing a post - it’s going to make my life so much easier!

Anyway, it’s rather late for me and I have quite a big day ahead. Ciao for now!

Putting the word out

8th Feb 2007

I haven’t been able to get a lot of work done in these last few days, mostly because I’ve been in a number of meetings organising quite a bit of work that SM2 will be involved with over the next 12 months. With so much work and my our inbox(s) slowly overflowing, we are in need of some experienced PHP Developers to help us deliver products to the ever increasing demand for Joomla-based components.

SM2 are not officially advertising these positions just yet, but we would like:

  • A Client-side (CSS/XHTML/JavaScript) Developer
  • A Lead Developer / Technical Manager
  • 2 or 3 PHP/MySQL Developers - with MVC experience

Ideally, we are looking for people with the following:

  • Ideally we are looking for people with Sugar CRM experience
  • Joomla! customisation experience
  • Technical lead/management experience
  • Brisbane based
  • Contract position 6-12 months possibly
  • Skills from junior to senior level development

If you are or know of someone who fits loosely into this profile, we’d love to hear from you! It’s worth noting also that I was originally contracted for 3 months and went full-time within the first week and a half. ;-)
SM2 is a fun-filled (and perhaps slightly dysfunctional :P) family working on some pretty interesting projects and having a lot of fun in the process. So, drop us a line here or visit SM2’s Joomla! website.

I hunger for a feed

2nd Feb 2007

I like to keep up to date; In fact, since the Kindalogical days I have made a point of spending 1 hour every morning catching up with the latest news and reading blogs from my favourite designers and developers. For this reason, the day that I discovered the magic of Firefox’s bookmark toolbar, my morning ritual changed forever. It enabled me to have all these bookmarks in a folder and simply click the “Open all in tabs” menu-item, closing each tab as I’d finished catching up on that site. (more…)
